At The Academy we provide the training necessary for students to refine and expand their skills in all areas of commercial dance. Students are groomed for auditions and work contracts within the industry, and the aim is to create versatile artists that will be desirable within the dance scene. Entry to the course is by audition only and class intake is kept to a minimum to ensure students receive more intimate training.
The course is open to students in academic year 7 and above. Any student wishing to continue their academics can do so by the Distance Education Program. Opportunities to study in Certificate and Diploma courses are also available on request. Classes take place approx 9am – 3pm Tuesday – Saturday with afternoon classes open to full-time students but not compulsory.
Students train in Commercial Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Acro, Hip Hop, Fitness, Classical Ballet, Pas De Deux, Stretch, Tech/Combo, Pilates, Active Flex, Strength and Body Conditioning and Pointe Class. Students have access to fully qualified staff from both Sydney and local areas.
Students are assessed twice annually by our panel of experts to evaluate the students progression. Students not meeting the standards of the course physically or attitude wise may be asked to leave the course. Those students will be eligible to re apply at the following year’s auditions.
This program has had continuous successes with students advancing on to professional schools, productions and companies such as Royal Carribean Cruise Lines, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Sand Sirens Macau, Disneyland Paris, Bonnie Lythgoe Pantomime, Youth In Performing Arts, Commercial Contracts India, Complexions Dance Company USA, World Championships of Performing Arts, Lionette Music Filmclips, Sammi Constantine Filmclip, Dance Editorial, Gosford Musical Society, Western Australian Performing Arts, Joffery Ballet School (USA), Queensland Dance School of Excellence, Cirque de Soleil, Disneyland Paris, Stardust Circus Australia, MSC Cruises, Dora and the Lost City of Gold and more.
